6. Curriculum Matters
6.1. Public Hearing Regarding Sufficiency of Textbooks and Instructional Materials
Rationale:

In order to comply with the requirements of Education Code Section 60119, a public hearing must be held annually to encourage participation by staff and the community regarding the sufficiency of instructional materials. A determination must be made as to whether each pupil in the district has enough textbooks and other instructional materials in each subject consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum framework adopted by the State.

The public hearing will be October 9, 2018, and shall take place on or before the end of the eighth week from the first day pupils attend school for that year (August 23rd). A notice of the public hearing must be posted in three public places in the district at least ten days before the date of the hearing (notice attached).

Governing boards that have met the requirements of the Education Code Section 60119 and have also certified compliance with Instructional Materials Funding Realignment Program (IMFRP) requirements regarding provision of adopted standards-aligned instructional materials for all students (Education Code Section 60422) may spend 100% of any remaining IMFRP funds from that year's allocation for other approval purposes.

The Educational Services office has updated the list of K-8 textbooks and instructional materials currently in use for the 2018/19 school year.
